Edit: The festival is all finished up and if you didn't get the chance to see it, you can see our film here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPMaen…
Not bad for something whipped together in a weekend right?
Anyways, for those interested in what *I* contributed to the project you'll see a video response posted by me that features the basic VFX I tackled. There was also an unused VFX shot for the girl's appearance and disappearance, but the low-tech solution worked so well we decided to go with that instead.
For those interested in just the VFX montage it is available here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBXt60…I joined up with a bunch of old friends to compete in the "48 hour film competition" in Savannah. I've got to say that I was really impressed with everybody, they pulled through, with little to no sleep and everybody really managed to come together and create a short film that looks WAY too good to have been made in 48 hours.
We were assigned a character (Michael Murray, Instructor), a prop (cellphone), a line of dialog (She said she would be right back), and a genre (Fantasy/Mythology)
Our film is about a distraught man named Michael who goes to the first intersection south of a graveyard at midnight, where he receives a call from a mysterious man who offers to bring his dead wife back, for a price.
It's based around a myth where one can wait at the first intersection south of a graveyard to meet Satan and make a deal with him for whatever earthly desires you want in exchange for your immortal soul.
I came in for the last half of the project and helped do the night shooting, editing, and special effects/color correction for the film. Afterward I passed out until about noon today.
Those in the area should definitely come check out one of the screenings, information on them is available here:
www.48hourfilm.com/savannah/For those who can't come see a screening, I'll post up a copy of the film on youtube once we get the all clear from the film festival.
Special thanks to everybody involved with the project (though I doubt they'll read this) and I hope everybody who spent there weekend at Otakon had more fun that I did depriving myself of sleep for 48 hours to complete and 7 minute film.
